Teddy Bear's Name History



Theodore Roosevelt (U.S.A President )

One day President Theodore Roosevelt went hunting. A bear was caught and tied to the president to shoot him, but President Roosevelt did not want to kill the bear. The story is well known when it was reported in newspapers and illustrated in cartoon form.

A man named Morris Michtom
who has a candy shop and stationers. Asking for His wife was named Rose to make a small teddy bear and then placed in their shop windows. Morris saw the bear cartoons in the newspapers and get  an ideas. He asked his wife to make some special bears like the one in the picture cartoons.

Then Morris wrote a letter addressed to the White House, asking if the new bear should be named as the name of the President. President
reply the letter, "I thought my name was not so valuable in a bear flying businesses, but you can just use it".

Morris then put the new bears
on his shop at the window, next to a cartoon. Teddy bear was named by President Roosevelt's nickname, Teddy. And until now it known as  teddy bear named "Teddy Bear"
