The UNIC history of Oxford University.
Oxford University in England was established due to an argument of a king and a religious leader. King Henry II (1133-1189), clashed with Archbishop Thomas Becket (1118-1170). The spat was widespread when the King of France was interfering with the support of Archbishop Becket.
To avoid the spread of French influence, King Henry II ordered that all British students of the university of Paris called back to english. Most of the students who were called home was lived in the city of Oxford. To continue their education founded a university which we now know as Oxford University.
