"SOS" Sign
In an emergency distress signal is SOS. Many say, SOS stands for "Save Our Soul". But this is actually wrong. SOS does not stand for. The letters SOS was chosen because this sign can be easily remembered when written in Morse code (alphabet used on the telegraph). With Morse code, SOS sign made up of three lines of three dots and three dots.
SOS signs were first used by the legendary ship "Titanic" just before his death. But the SOS sign was not yet widely known. No wonder when the Titanic disaster, the ships around it too late to respond and provide assistance.
As another alternative of the SOS is a "mayday", which is usually spoken through radio communication ties. The word "mayday" is derived from the words: "m'aidez" - French language meaning "help me".
